Obituary: Robert E. Janelle

Robert Janelle, 80, of Norton, passed away Monday, Jan. 28, 2013.

Robert E. Janelle, 80, of Norton, passed away Monday, Jan. 28, 2013 at Morton Hospital in Taunton.

He was the husband of Alice (Perry) Janelle to whom he was wed June 11, 1955.

Born in Attleboro on May 4, 1932, he was son of the late Domino and Felecite (Brousseau) Janelle. Bob grew up in the Hebronville section of Attleboro and was educated in Seekonk schools.

Prior to retiring in 1997, Mr. Janelle had been employed for 25 years at Branin Advance Industries in Attleboro. He retired as a press setup Forman and following retirement worked part time for an additional eight years at Branin. He had also been employed at the company when it operated under the name of Advance Industries.

A resident of Norton for the past 57 years, Bob was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Norton. He was at true outdoorsman and loved being near the water. In the summer months he enjoyed fishing and entertaining family and friends aboard his boat, which included water skiing. His other interests including camping and snowmobiling in the winter.

Bobby was also an avid New England sports fan and enjoyed watching the games while always wearing one of his ball caps. He will also be remembered for the meticulous manner in which he maintained his yard.

In addition to his wife of over 57 years, he is survived by his daughter Deborah A. Leary and her husband Joseph of Norton; his siblings Armand Janelle of Pawtucket, R.I. and Raymond Janelle of Attleboro; his grandchildren Alexandra Hatch and her husband Jacob of Maine and Jason Leary of Norton; his great grandson “RJ” Hatch; his godchildren Joseph Rezza of N. Attleboro and Steven LaPalme of Norton; and his many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his siblings Claire Rushlow, Delores Mingo, Theresa Boisse and Dona, Arthur, Edgar, Roland, and Desneiges Janelle. 

His funeral, to which relatives and friends are invited to attend, will be held  Saturday, Feb. 2 at 9 a.m. at Norton Memorial Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian burial celebrated at 10 a.m. in St. Mary’s Church, 1 Power St., Norton. Burial will follow in the Norton Common Cemetery in Norton.

Visiting hours will be held Friday, Feb. 1 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Norton Memorial Funeral Home.
