NHS Swim & Dive Team Gives Back to Community

Members from the Norton High School Swimming and Diving Team is continuing its tradition of helping its community this season, with two recent charity events and an upcoming fundraiser.

On Friday, December 20, team members gave a hand in helping assemble dinners for local families in need, which was coordinated by the Martial Arts Connection on 41 Pleasant St. in Norton.  The team joined several other organizations in packaging the roughly 375 meals that will be distributed during the holiday season.

The previous weekend, the team organized a canned food drive at their first two meets of the season, and were able to collect and donate two large boxes of goods to Norton's Cupboard of Kindness.

The team will be holding its annual Splash-a-Thon on New Year's Eve.  The funds raised will help cover team expenses, and a significant portion will also be donated to the Leah Fernandes Memorial Fund.  The team each year commits to "paying it forward," and team members chose to support this important local charity with this year's contribution.

Team members are looking for sponsors, so please get in touch with any Norton High swimmers and divers you may know to make a donation.  If you don't personally know any team members, but wish to contribute to the team and its charity, you may contact Coach Ruston Eastman at coach.ruston@gmail.com.
