WHY there are So Many FAT People in "EXERCISE CLASSES"

Sorry Ladies, I know this flies in the face of everything you've been told about exercise, but the truth is, exercise in-of-itself is NOT the fastest way to lose body-fat; reducing your calorie-intake, is. This misunderstanding alone, is the #1 reason there are SO MANY FAT PEOPLE in Exercise Classes. Misinformed women are attending 3-6 classes per week and getting nowhere in their efforts to become skinnier, because they are not pushing themselves away from the dinner table often enough, and snacking too often - plain n' simple. My Proof? Whenever I ask (most) women WHY they attend exercise classes, here are the answers I get most often:

1 – "My Instructor Says I Can Burn 1000 Calories in Her Class!"
The TRUTH: Being OVER-FAT is – and always will be – a "dietary issue". The amount of calories burned during exercise is grossly over-reported by the fitness industry. Is exercise important? Duh, of course it is. However, do it to be healthier and fitter, NOT to lose weight. Calories calories calories...

2 – "I'm Trying to Lose My Belly and Firm-up My Flabby Arms". The TRUTH: Unless you understand the CAUSE AND EFFECT of EXERCISE, you may be NEEDLESSLY spinning your wheels engaged in an exercise program that will NEVER do what you want it to do. For years, I have seen (mostly) women jumping around - three-times per week - in a dance-type exercise class, and believing it is going to trim their waist, sculpt their flabby arms, and re-shape their fat asses. It will NOT! Often, one year later, I see those same people, still attending their favorite Exercise Instructor's class, and STILL FAT. Calories calories calories...

3 – "I LOST 30-Pounds this Past Year by Going to ZUMBA Classes... Hey, It WORKS For ME!" The Truth: When people say, "Yeah, but it worked for me - it changed my body". No, your DIET changed your body. Your "classes" were simply fun. Rarely do I see FAT bodies - who regularly engage in Exercise Classes - change. Too many people (women mostly) believe that if they engage in an exercise class 3-4 times per, they are then doing their part to drop pounds. They are not. Exercise will NEVER cancel-out stuffing your face. Calories calories calories....

4 – "I Joined a Gym Yesterday and Signed-up for "Butt-Buster" Classes Held on Mondays and Tuesdays...I Can't WAIT! The TRUTH: Again, lack of exercise knowledge is what allows gyms to sell their over-weight new members the "wrong" exercise prescription. That's "if" your goal is weight-loss, or a firmer more sculpted body, which is - according to the women, I speak with - the #1 goal of most women. You joined a new gym, that's great...exercise is good. You'll see your body change MOST quickly by engaging in strength-training, and at the same time, revamping your EATING habits. POW!

Bottom Line: The type of exercise you choose to engage in on a regular basis can only DO what it is capable of doing, and it can NEVER do what it is NOT capable of doing.  In other words, Zumba, Les Mills Videos, Cardio-Pump Classes, Boot Camps, etc., may in fact be "fun", and yes, that does have some value, but because these-type exercise programs can NOT be progressively more intense by-nature, and because it is impossible to measure the extent of the amount of (if any) progressive over-loading of the musculature, these become poor exercise choices if "results" is the goal. If Zumba or Brazilian Butt-Lift gets you motivated to exercise, so be it. Doing "something" will ALWAYS be better than doing NOTHING. Besides, it may be the gateway to other exercise-programs which are more productive, such as high-intensity strength training, which is "still" the most scientifically supported way to "CHANGE the WAY YOUR BODY LOOKS"; Second ONLY to REDUCING YOUR DAILY CALORIES.. Yup, C-A-L-O-R-I-E-S - C-A-L-O-R-I-E-S - C-A-L-O-R-I-E-S...

To my Exercise Instructor and Gym Owner friends who say this post may be "scaring away business", I simply say, I am not biased against anything, except "Lies and Myths". I explain the facts and where the evidence points. Your Customers or Clients can decide for themselves.
