The Honeymoon Phase

After more than a year of planning the wedding, Sean and I now understand the importance of having a honeymoon.

Yes, you need that time to wind down after worrying about venues, catering, music, etc. It's also imperative for the bride and groom to just enjoy being married to each other before going back to the grind of every day life. It also makes you realize that you need to MAKE time for each other...before you go insane.

My husband (yes, that will take some getting used to) and I spent a week in Orlando, Fla. and a week cruising the western caribbean. The first week was a blur, constantly on the go. We did Disney in two days, Universal Studios in one and Sea World in half a day. Oh, and we also managed to get roped into a time share presentation at the place we were staying (Westgate Lake Resort).

We absolutely NEEDED the cruise as a vacation from our vacation. We got to relax and enjoy excursions in Haiti, Jamaica, Mexico and Grand Cayman. Instead of going into too much detail, you can flip through the photos.

One place I HAVE to talk about though is Rio Secreto. Traversing this watery cave system with Sean was one of the best experiences of my life. At one point the tour guide had us shut off our head lamps and we sat and listened to the silence for about two minutes. The only sound we could here was our occasional movement and droplets falling from the stalactites. If you ever find yourself in the area of Riviera Maya, Mexico, this is a must-do.

The one downside of the honeymoon is that we had to come back to reality. I was depressed the last day of our cruise and several days after. Heck, I still miss that ship. I miss the five deliciously squared meals a day and not having to make my bed. And of course I miss sipping coconut cocktails on the beach with my groom. But as the saying goes, all good things must come to an end.

At least the end of one good thing begins another. Married life starts now. Just how is married life different from engaged life? From dating life? We'll get into that later.
