Wedding Adventures

Your Norton Patch editor explores the exciting, yet stressful aspects of planning a wedding.

Hello readers! Your Norton Patch editor now has the option to blog, and I figured this would be a great opportunity to take you on an adventure.

As many of you may know, I'm now engaged. So this ongoing blog is going to be about my journey towards planning a wedding. But first, let me give you some background on my fiance (boy, that's going to take some getting used to) and I. I warn you though...it may sound sappy.

Sean and I met at our jobs at Talbots. He was a geek, but what can I say...so am I.

After a few months of us getting to know eachother as friends, we started dating back June 15, 2001. We were both teenagers at the time, me 18, Sean 17. We dated for about two years before we broke up. Sean said he was still young, and though I was sure about being with him for the rest of my life, he was too afraid to commit to that at such a young age. We never lost contact though, and apparently never stopped having feelings for eachother, even through other relationships we had.

After Sean found out I broke up with someone I had been dating for three years, Sean pursued me. He said that if we got back together, he would take me ice skating, something he hates to do. I laughed it off, but in my heart I knew this is what I wanted. Finally, June 16, 2009 (a day after our original anniversary) we stopped fighting it and got back together. In fact, that very night we confessed to eachother that we never stopped loving eachother.

Fast forward three years to March 10. Some friends of ours planned a trip into Boston to check out Frog Pond. Part of me thought this would be the perfect proposal spot, but I quickly put that out of my head as Sean was refusing to skate for more than five feet at a time, circling between the enter and exit areas. Finally I grabbed him by the hands, skating backwards to try and teach him how to skate. He said to bring him to the middle of the ice where there were less people to crash into, and once we reached the area, he "fell." Of course he gave a geeky proposal, saying Superman has Lois Lane, Peter Parker has Mary Jane, and penguins mate for life. And then he asked if I would be his penguin.

And now we're engaged!

Now comes the tricky part. I'm not one of those girls who planned her wedding since she was 7 years old. I know nothing about this stuff. So I figure this blog will help me organize my ideas and be a good way for my readers to give me tips.

So far we have looked at one venue, Colt State Park. It looks perfect for what we want to do...a big backyard bash theme. I shall post photos of this in a future blog if we are able to secure it for our expected wedding date of June 15, 2013.

Today, I'm going to a . I'll be sure to let you know how that turns out in another blog entry.
