Norton Resident Plays in Wheelchair Basketball Game

Norton resident Matt Kline and 11 other Sullivan Tire employees participated in a basketball game in wheelchairs against students from Massachusetts Hospital School March 14. The Massachusetts Hospital School beat the Sullivan Tire team 18 - 4.

John Miller, a Sullivan Tire employee arranged the game after watching the team play every week with his 18-year-old son Cameron, who attends Massachusetts Hospital School. Cameron has cerebral palsy.

The team struggles to find opponents and schedule games, so to boost morale for the school’s team, give them someone to play a fun game against, and to bring awareness to this school program, Miller gathered a group of 12 employees and scheduled the 40-minute game.

There were two 20-minute halves, starting at 6:30 PM. The 12 Sullivan Tire employees will be playing against the 10 members of the MHS basketball team.

Sullivan Tire is a locally-owned, family business started by Robert J. Sullivan in 1955. The foundation on which Robert J. Sullivan started Sullivan Tire was “treat everyone, customers and fellow employees, as you would a member of your family.” More than 50 years later, the tradition continues.
