Parkinson's Disease Support Group meets Wednesday, June 11th

Cara Burdette, Speech and Language therapist for Sturdy Memorial Hospital, will demonstrate
LSVT-LOUD on June 11th at 10am at the regular meeting of the Parkinson's Disease Support Group held at Community VNA, 10 Emory Street in Attleboro MA. Ms. Burdette is trained and certified in this treatment protocol that helps people continue to communicate.

Ms. Burdette writes:
"LSVT-LOUD is standardized voice treatment protocol that is now being offered at Sturdy Memorial Hospital. LSVT-LOUD has been researched for over 20 years, funded by the National Institute of Health. It can only be delivered by an LSVT-LOUD Certified Clinician. The aim of treatment is to target common problems associated with Parkinson Disease (PD) and other neurological conditions, including: mumbled, monotone speech, soft/quiet voice and hoarse voice.  LSVT-LOUD treatment has documented evidence for improved vocal loudness and speech intelligibility, as well as increased facial expression and greater confidence."

Call Community VNA at 508-222-0118 for directions. This program may be informational for anyone with speech issues.  The public is welcome to attend. For information on the program, call Gretchen Robinson, group leader at 508-226-2910.
