Charles Lindbergh: Coast to Coast in 48 Hours!

Imagine an airplane equipped with wicker chair seating, no cabin pressurization, and stewards shouting through megaphones. In the 1920’s flying sensation Charles Lindbergh dreamed of offering luxury air passenger service from coast to coast and places in between. As the consultant to the Transcontinental Air Transport company, he laid out a route that combined night rail passage with daytime flights to connect New York City with Los Angeles in a breathtaking 48 hours. Anne Barrett’s Great Aunt Grace left a diary of her experience as one of a few privileged passengers on the inaugural trip that departed July 7th, 1929. Learn all about the technological advances and events leading up to this groundbreaking enterprise, and what happened after.
