Obituaries: Pauline A. Solmonese, Leonie A. Ingalls

The following are obituaries for Norton.

Pauline A. Solmonese, 75, of Pike Avenue, Attleboro, a loving wife and mother, died peacefully with her family by her side on July 14, 2013 at Brigham and Women's Hospital, Boston. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph Solmonese, who passed in 1977. 


Mr. and Mrs. Solmonese were dedicated teachers in the Norton Public Schools. They met while teaching at Norton High School in 1959. Joseph Solmonese went onto become principal of Norton High School and the Joseph C. Solmonese Elementary School in Norton is named after him. Pauline worked as a teacher in the Norton Public Schools for more than 20 years, retiring in 2001. After retiring, she enjoyed serving as a volunteer at the Norton Public Library.

Born in Dighton, on Sept. 11, 1937, she was a daughter of the late Richard and Mildred (Watterson) Stark. Pauline was raised in Norton and was educated in Norton Schools. She received her Bachelors Degree in Education and her MEd from Bridgewater State College. 

Pauline is survived by three children; Melissa Solmonese and her husband Kevin Lonergan of Attleboro, Joe Solmonese and his husband Jed Hastings of Washington, DC, and John Solmonese of Arlington.  A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers and for those wishing to remember Pauline in a special way, contributions in her memory may be made to: Friends of the Norton Public Library, 68 East Main St., Norton, MA 02766.

Leonie A. Ingalls

Leonie A. Ingalls, 93, of 190 Mansfield Avenue, Norton, formerly a sixty year resident of Tufts Street, Attleboro, a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, passed peacefully on July 6, 2013 at the Philip Hulitar Inpatient Center in Providence. She was the beloved wife of the late Elmer Ingalls who passed on Sept. 4, 2006 and Russell M. Ingalls who passed on May 17, 1968.

Born in Norton on May 6, 1920, Leonie was a daughter of the late Odias and Angeline (Yelle) Guevremont. She was raised and educated in Norton and was a graduate of Norton High School, Class of 1938. She later studied at both Bridgewater and Bristol Community Colleges. 

Leonie was employed as a library assistant, bookkeeper and a secretary at the Attleboro Public Library for seventeen years until retiring in 1980. She was a member of AARP and a member of the City of Attleboro Retirees. After retirement, Leonie volunteered for 10 years at both the Attleboro Public Library and the Madonna Manor Nursing Home in North Attleboro.
She was also a former member of the Bridge Cub at the Rev. Gordon Larson Senior Center in Attleboro. Leonie enjoyed reading, playing tennis, sailing and traveling and was a longtime communicant of St. Mark's Church in Attleboro Falls.

Leonie is survived by her beloved son: Dennis E. Ingalls and his wife Elayne of Norton; a son-in-law: Lewis Seamon and his wife Harriet of Norton; a brother: Jerome Guevremont of Rangley, ME; a sister: Mary Jane Farquhar of Norton; a sister-in-law: Joan Guevremont of No. Attleboro; three beloved grandchildren: Karen Francisco and her husband Michael of Mapleville, RI, Krista Ryan and her husband Mark of Taunton and Eryn Bergeron and her husband Shawn of Murrells Inlet, SC; and four great-grandchildren: Tyler Francisco, Kim Ryan, Emma Bergeron and Addyson Bergeron.

Leonie was the loving mother of the late Leonie Anne Seamon and sister of the late Donat and Evelyn Guevremont.

Family and friends are kindly invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, July 20, at 9 a.m. in St. Mark's Church, 105 Stanley Street, Attleboro Falls celebrated by the Rev. Thomas Frechette, Pastor. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted. Leonie will be laid to rest in St. John's Cemetery, West Street, Attleboro.
