1. NHS hockey team meeting

 The Norton High hockey team meeting for current and future players and parents will take place today at 6 p.m. at Norton High School. It will be an opportunity to meet the new coach, hear from the president, learn about the new strength and endurance program, grab some Norton hockey clothing and get details on the new summer league.

2. Spring-a-Ding Storytime

The Spring-a-Ding Storytime will take place 10:30 a.m. with Ms. Leslianne in the Norton Public Library community room. All ages are welcome. No registration required.

3. NMS Spotlight School banner hanging

New England League of Middle Schools will present Norton Middle School with a Spotlight School banner 2:30 p.m. in the gym. Norton Middle School is one of 13 middle schools in the state to receive this distinction.

4. House Republican Caucus votes against transportation proposal

House Minority Leader Bradley H. Jones, Jr. (R- North Reading), Representative Steven S. Howitt (R-Seekonk), ranking Republican on the Joint Committee on Transportation, and Representative Peter Durant (R-Spencer) were joined by the House Republican Caucus in voting against a Democratic-led transportation finance proposal which contained $500 million in tax increases.  Having passed the House, the transportation finance package goes before the State Senate for consideration.

5. High near 66, low around 43

There will be a 30 percent chance of showers before 8 a.m. and then after 4 p.m. There will be a high of 66. Tonight there is an 80 percent chance of showers after 10 p.m. and a low around 43.
