Bristol County Savings Bank Awards $16,000 Grant To Community Development of Attleboro - Summer Expo

June 11, 2014 — In partnership with the City of Attleboro, Bristol County Savings Bank (BCSB) awarded a grant totaling $16,000 to Community Development of Attleboro during a check presentation at Attleboro City Hall recently.  Specifically, the gift will help fund the upcoming Summer Expo for the Senses for which the Bank is the event sponsor.  The free, fun family celebration of music, food, jewelry and art will take place on Saturday, June 21st from Noon – 5:00 p.m. in downtown Attleboro. (Rain date is Sunday, June 22nd.)

Patrick J. Murray, Jr., President and CEO of BCSB, awarded the grant to Kevin Dumas, Mayor of the City of Attleboro and several Summer Expo team members.  “The Community Development Center has been a lead agency supporting community building events like the Summer Expo for the Senses and, as we are a community bank, we couldn’t be more proud to continue to support its mission and the goal of the Expo which is to encourage business activity and reinforce the enthusiasm and interest in all things related to downtown Attleboro,” said Murray.  He added that the Bank has also worked with the Mayor to provide funding for the Agency’s minor home repair program and, through a partnership with Saint Vincent de Paul, a heating and fuel assistance program to aid Attleboro’s low-income residents.

The 6th Annual Summer Expo for the Senses is a collaboration between the City of Attleboro and the Attleboro Arts Museum, the local jewelry community, artists and craftspersons, entertainers and area restaurants to celebrate the vibrancy of the City.  Entertainment will include live music, food samplings, crafts, face painting, balloon artists, a children’s bike parade and sidewalk chalk along with a few secret attractions.
