There is a new way to shop this Cyber Monday, Nov. 26, with the re-launch of the Norton-based company, Nyopoly.
Nyopoly is a members-only shopping experience where customers negotiate the price of clothing and accessories. Members are given three chances to make an accepted offer on name brand and designer products. If an offer is too low to be accepted, Nyopoly will provide a counter offer.
According to the company website, "Nyopoly is like walking into a store, grabbing an item off the shelf, and determining your purchase price with the cashier. It's not an auction, and you're not competing against anyone. It's personal.”
Some product partners include Versace, BCBG and Prada.
“All Nyopoly products are 100 percent authentic, real and brand new,” said director of marketing and community Joe Shartzer. “We source our products directly with our partners to ensure the highest quality items for our members.”
The idea for Nyopoly stemmed from CEO Shawn Harris, a Norton resident. Harris was co-founder of ECC Life and Style, a “luxury lifestyle apparel company” out of Boston. There he saw the current economic and pricing issues and thought there must be a better way to provide quality products to customers for a reasonable price. According to an article on Boston.com, ECC Life and Style unsuccessfully targeted young men entering the workplace but soon found their niche in creating custom menswear for professional athletes, coaches and top business leaders.
Nyopoly was founded about a year ago with Harris, Shartzer and chief technology officer Tak-Sang Chan. The company recently went on hiatus before re-launching this month to a larger member base.
While the company is based out of Norton with the postal address 122 E. Main St., Suite C, Nyopoly is strictly an online retailer and does not have a storefront. Membership to Nyopoly is free, but an invitation is needed. To request one, visit https://nyopoly.com/join.
“Each new account is credited with $5, so it's the perfect way to shop for the holidays,” Shartzer said.
