The United Regional Chamber of Commerce, which has a membership that includes businesses in Norton, announced Monday the recipients of the person and business of the year awards. The winners are Ed Hurley, president of the Hockomock Area YMCA, and Cryan Landscape Contractors.
A chamber press release states, "Under Hurley's leadership, the Hockomock YCMA serves every segment of the population, from preschoolers to senior citizens."
State Rep. Betty Poirier nominated Hurley for the award.
"At the heart of all of these programs is Ed Hurley," said Poirier, according to the chamber's release. "He is the inspiration and the motivation for all of these programs and many more. Ed is respected by all those who have been touched by his generous and loving nature."
The nomination for Cryan Landscaping came from Deb Hanson, owner of Design Elements for Business in N. Attleborough. She praised Kevin Cryan, who started the landscaping business in his garage 20 years ago.
"I have been providing graphic design services for Kevin Cryan over the past eight years and am constantly impressed at all he does for the community … Kevin always goes a step beyond what needs to be done."
The recipients will be honored at the chamber's 96th annual Dinner and Awards Banquet on Nov. 8 at 6 p.m. at Lake View Pavilion in Foxborough. The cost is $45 with pre-paid registration. You can RSVP by calling the chamber at 508-222-0801, 508-528-2800 or 508-695-6011.
