Britax Recalls Strollers Due to Amputation Risk

Britax is recalling three of its stroller models saying the hinge on the folding mechanism can cause amputations, breaks and severe finger lacerations.

The hinge on the B-Agile, B-Agile Double and BBO Motion Strollers can cause injuries when the release button is pressed while pulling on the release strap.

According to the Consumer Products Safety Commission, Britax received eight reports of injuries that included one partial fingertip amputation, one broken finger and several lacerations.

The recalled strollers were manufactured between March 2011 and June 2013 and cost between $250 and $450. They were sold by major retail stores nationwide, as well as through online retailers including: Amazon.com, albeebaby.com, buybuybaby.com,  diapers.com and ToysRUs.com. Specific model numbers of those included in the recall can be found on the CPSC website.

Anyone owning one of these models should stop using it immediately and contact Britax to receive a free repair kit, the recall states.
