Amazon.com Increases Shipping Fees

Costs are up for free "Super Saver Shipping" from online retailer, just a week before Massachusetts residents have to start paying sales tax on orders.

As the holiday season fast approaches, plan to pay a little more for shipping from Amazon.com.

The world’s largest online retailer increased the minimum for its free “Super Saver Shipping” from $25 to $35 this week, the first increase in nearly a decade.

For Massachusetts shoppers, it’s a double whammy as the increase in shipping comes on the heels of Amazon starting to collect state sales tax from Massachusetts customers.

Come Nov. 1, Amazon.com will start charging the 6.25% state sales tax on purchases made by Massachusetts residents, following a deal signed late last year.
