Norton High Reconstruction Work on Schedule

New Norton Schools superintendent Joseph Baeta said the reconstruction at the Norton High School is almost complete.

While he said it will not be completely done by the start of school on Sept. 4, the building will be ready for teachers and students during the later phases of construction.

Baeta also said the School Office is scheduled to reopen on Aug. 19 and everything is in place for that to happen without delay.

According to the project’s Web site, the remaining work is concentrated in one section and will not affect classes.

The project has been all encompassing, touching nearly every area of the school in some form or another except the gymnasium.

The project includes a student drop off area to help in traffic congestion, a new fitness area, islands in the parking lot to aid traffic flow, new locker rooms and a weight room.

According to the project’s timetable, the school will be completely finished by December and is currently looking to be underbudget.
