Founder’s Day Picnic Schedule of Events

Visit food vendors, play games, listen to music and watch fireworks.

The is right around the corner and organizers are gearing up to make it a fun day for all ages. The picnic will take place Saturday, June 23, 2012 at Henri A. Yelle Elementary School from 5 to 9 p.m. Rain date is June 30. Admission is free. Here is a schedule of events:

5 p.m.: Founder’s Day kick off celebration- Let the festivities begin!

5 to 7:30 p.m.: Hot air balloon rides will be offered for $10 a ride per person. Rides will go 30 to 60 feet in the air and will last three to five minutes, weather permitting.

5 to 8 p.m.: Twenty-five antique cars will be lined up on the east side of the grounds for your viewing pleasure. 

5 to 8:30 p.m.: Local bands will take the stage and provide musical entertainment.

5 to 7 p.m. Double Take (Pop, pock classic covers)
7 to 8:30 p.m. Split Infinity ('80s cover band )
8:30 p.m. Norton Singers (American classics vocal perfromance)
9 p.m. Tim Brown (vocal soloist )

5 to 8:30 p.m.: In the Grand Field, there will be a fire hose game from Norton Fire Department, dog demonstrations, hay rides, Travelinbugz, Inc., a petting zoo and Civil War encampment.

5 to 9 p.m.: The Midway Open will include food and other entertainment. In fact, Norton Patch will have a tent with lawn games such as Cornhole and Ladderball. Also stop by for tee-shirts, hats, sunglasses, bubbles, tote bags and moist towelettes. Vendors include Hot Dogs & More, McMahon’s Countryside Grille, Pot Belly Jim’s, Sabatino’s Trattoria and The Dawg House. Picnic-goers are also allowed to bring their own baskets of food from home. And don't forget to check out the All-Star Softball Game!

6:30 p.m.: Who doesn’t like a pie-eating contest? All you need to do is be there to eat or cheer on your favorite contestant. A trophy will be awarded to the winner. Table Talk Pies have donated their blueberry pies for this event.

8:30 p.m.: Norton Singers will share their vocal talents with the crowds.

8:50 p.m.: Fireworks will end the day with a bang.
