Norton offers some great independent retailing choices and patronizing their stores this weekend helps both the consumer and the Mom and Pop shops who anchor local commerce. Here are just a few examples of Norton's diverse shopping choices:

Home Improvement/Decorating:

For redecorating, visit Marsan's Upholstery, Bedrock Granite or The Carpet Barn. Blueview Nurseries is the ideal spot to fill in those summer plantings or even get a jump start on some fall foliage. Save on getting those special mementos into custom frames at The Swallow's Nest. Looking to replace that old vacuum? Visit Norton Vacuum and Sewing Center or The Vac Shack for that personal service. Go to Accent Fence and Lumber or Wetherell's Lawn and Garden for any outdoor needs or the Produce Barn for smaller hardware items. To find those one-of-a-kind vintage pieces, sneak on over to Antiques at Uncle Meanies.

Entertainment:

Harry's Hobbies and Collectables carries all that the devoted or even novice model-building enthusiast needs. Loading up on books and supplies for the school year or need leisurely reading materials? Head on over to the Old Town Hall Bookstore for new and used textbooks, paperback novels, school supplies and children's books.

Speciality:

Looking to find that special gift or unique home accent? There are many stores in Norton to discover items that would not be offered in department stores. Try Bridget's-An Irish Tradition, Olde Thyme Shoppe or SOykind Candles.

Norton also has many retailing chains, and while those can also be good choices to stock up on staples or make larger purchases, keep in mind the many valuable advantages of the local store. It offers personalized assistance, follow up service is easier and many times the smaller stores have more unique items than the larger establishments.

Traffic is lighter, no commuting time, parking is easier, which leaves enough time to experience a delicious meal in one of Norton's many restaurants.
