On Aug. 4 and 5, nine Norton residents will ride in the Pan-Mass Challenge to raise money for cancer research. Many have personal stories about why they ride and raise money. Over the next few weeks on Norton Patch, meet each rider. Here is the first:
Name: Susan Greene-Hellman
How many PMC rides have you participated in? I am riding in my 12th PMC.
Why are you riding? I'm riding in memory of my late husband Stephen Greene who passed away in 1999 of lymphoma. The ride this year is very special to me because my daughter Abigail will be joining me! This is her first PMC in memory of her dad! She was only 3 when he died, but his memory lives in her heart. Abby rode in the PMC Kids Ride here in Norton in the past (she was actually an organizer, with her brother Brendan, of the PMC Kids Ride here in Norton). Abigail is 16 will be a junior this year at Bishop Feehan High School. Abby has also volunteered for the PMC for past five summers at Mass Maritime Academy.
What is your fundraising goal? My fundraising goal is $5,000. To donate, visit http://www.pmc.org/donation.asp.
