Organizers are canceling the 50' Closer to a cure Alzheimer's Fundraiser on Aug. 17.
"We really wanted this event to be successful, however, with many other events planned around this same time we do not have the participation we had originally anticipated," said Norton police officer Bryan C. King, of the organizer. "We apologize to all of the many friends and family as well as those who have offered to help try and make this event a success.
"This was a very difficult decision. We are working on additional events for the rest of this year and would hope you could join us for one of these events. We will let you know of the additional fundraising opportunities to benefit the Alzheimer's Association once we have all of the details firmed up. Again we apologize and thank you for your understanding."
Donations for the Alzheimer's Association can be made payable to Alzheimer's Association and mailed to 507 County Street Taunton, MA 02780.
