Norton Commemorates Memorial Day with Parade

Staff Sergeant David Schepis grand marshal.

Hundreds braved the humidity and gathered for the annual Memorial Day parade in Norton this afternoon. As Norton fire chief Richard Gomes noted in a speech he gave today, the weather is nothing compared to what our veterans have to deal with.

Other speakers included State Representative Jay Barrows, police chief Brian Clark, town manager Michael Yunits and selectman Tim Giblin.

The grand marshal of the parade was staff sergeant David Schepis, who aided soldiers in a gun fight in Afghanistan. His actions helped save injured soldiers and stopped their base from being overcome by insurgents.
