Norton Cable Moves Studio

To get 3,000 square feet in studio at 184 W. Main St.

Norton Cable Television will be moving into a 3,000 square foot studio come September.

Moving from its original space in , Norton TV is currently located at 184 W. Main St. on the ground floor of the Welter Building in the Norton Crossing Plaza. They will be relocating to the second floor once renovations to the space are complete. The studio will feature new equipment, including a computer training lab for the public. Anyone in the town will have the opportunity to come in and film a show and edit.

With the new studio more live coverage will also be possible.

“Our goal here is to get that information out as quickly to the public as possible and try to have as many live feeds as possible,” said Board of Selectmen chairman Tim Giblin.

Norton Cable Access Corporation chairman Victor Rodriguez said he couldn’t promise a live Town Meeting because it takes several months and $24,000 each time they move their satellite hub to get the live access. Comcast has promised Norton TV that by the time renovations are complete the hub will be moved.

The space in the high school will be left as is with equipment Norton TV will leave behind.

“Our intention is to virtually leave almost an entire studio,” Rodriguez said. “We’re buying right up until September to get the best and newest technology we can get.”

“We’re very excited,” said director Jason Benjamin. “Greater visibility, better parking, a training facility for continuing [education] so people can learn how to edit. I’m very pleased with where we are going and I’m thinking that the technology is going to continue to improve.”
