Lancers' Preseason Action, Pop Warner Kick Off Highlight Weekend

This is what is going on this weekend in Norton and the local area.

Chaminade Singers Present Broadway's Best: in addition to this highly entertaining theatre performance, there will be a guest appearance by a cappella group, "Hello Stranger." FREE Live Musical Performance: Dave Cuddy will perform at EPOCH Assisted Living of Norton, on Saturday, Aug. 24, at 3 p.m. Cuddy’s extensive repertoire includes hits from the 1930s through the 1980s, as well as songs from “The Great American Songbook.” This performance is free and open to the public. Cheer on the Lancers in Pre-Season Play: the Norton High School boys and girls varsity teams will be taking their field for scrimmages on Saturday August 24. The games are not at home, but show your true school spirit and support the teams by traveling to Plymouth North High School, at 10 a.m. to root for the boys or Mansfield High School, at 10 a.m., to applaud the girls.

2013 Norton Pop Warner Kick Off Cook-Out: young football players, don't miss out on this fun event to get together and kick off the season! The event will be held on Saturday, Aug. 24, noon-3:30 p.m., Everett Leonard Field. There will be food, music, pie-in-the-face competitions and a dunk tank! Bring your own chairs and beverages (water will be supplied). Parents, no alcoholic beverages. RSVP to your team mom today!

CORI Workshop: St. Mary's Catholic Church is hosting a CORI and Safe Child workshop Sunday, Aug. 25, 1 p.m. These workshops are for anyone who will have contact with young people during the coming year, including religious education volunteers, scout leaders and Knights of Columbus volunteers.
