Almanacs: Winter Will Be Snowier, Colder

Both the NH and Maine Old Farmer's Almanac suggested we could see high-than average snowfalls.

Old Farmer’s Almanac based its prediction on a a drop in solar activity and a change in ocean patterns, reported the Associated Press.

Last month, the Maine-based Farmer’s Almanac, in its 197th year, gave an almost identical weather forecast.

“Sweaters and snow shovels should be unpacked early and kept close by throughout the season,” said Janice Stillman, editor of the Old Farmer’s Almanac.

The Old Farmer’s Almanac predicts a cold winter for every region but the lower Great Lakes, upper Midwest and the northern states of the Northeast.
