6 Things Sept. 22: Electronic Recycling, Car Seat Checks and More

1. High near 74, low around 59
Patchy fog is expected before 9 a.m. Otherwise, it will be sunny, with a high near 74. Calm wind will become south 5 to 9 mph in the afternoon. Tonight there will be patchy fog between 11 p.m. and 2 a.m. The temperature low will be around 59. South wind will be around 7 mph. There is also a 30 percent chance of rain, mainly between 2 a.m. and 3 a.m. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

2. Norton Historical Society yard sale
Norton Historical Society is having a yard sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Come by 18 W. Main St. and check it out.

3. Live country music by Timmy Brown
Timmy Brown will sing at McMahon's Countryside Grille starting 8 p.m. He will also have copies of his cover CD Timmy Brown’s Country Favorites available for sale.

4. Electronic and appliance recycling day
An electronic and appliance recycling day will be held at St. Mary’s Church in Norton 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Accepted items to include monitors, computers, computer games, stereo equipment, copy and fax machines, printers, TVs, air conditioning units, microwaves, dehumidifiers,washers, dryers, stoves, lawn mowers, snow blowers with the gas removed, exercise equipment, grills and more. Fees are $5 for each  computer, $10 for any monitor or small TV less than 19", $15 for each TV between 19" and 26" and $20 for each TV over 26" wide and $25 for wood console TVs and projection TVs. Any appliances are $10 each.  Any cell phones, car, truck batteries and bikes are free.

5. Harvest arts and crafts festival
Immanuel Lutheran Church of Attleboro will be holding the annual fall harvest arts and crafts festival 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 647 N. Main St., Attleboro. Over 25 booths featuring local artists and crafters will be selling a wide variety of arts and crafts including homemade food items, watercolors, jewelry, nativity sets, needle crafts, woodworking and more. The festival will also feature local musicians. Food vendors will also be on site.

6. National Seat Check Saturday
The U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports that each year, thousands of children are injured or killed in automobile accidents. In fact, motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death for children ages 1 through 13. To prevent this, today has been deemed National Seat Check Saturday.
