5 Things Sept. 12: Email Basics Class, Martial Arts Demonstration and More

1. High near 81, low around 56
Today will be sunny, with a high near 81. Calm wind will become southwest 5 to 8 mph in the afternoon. Tonight will be mostly clear, with a low around 56. South wind will be 3 to 6 mph.

2. Email Basics Class for Adults
Computer classes for older adults will be offered at Norton Public Library, starting with “Email Basics” 10:30 a.m. today. Learn how to register for a free email account, add contacts and send attachments. Participants should be able to use a computer and have some familiarity with using a web browser. Future topics will include word processing, Facebook and borrowing library e-books designed for older active adults. Registration is required and space is limited. 3. Martial Arts demonstration
EPOCH Assisted Living of Norton will welcome Troy Taranto and Molly Drain for a martial arts demonstration at 6:15 p.m. Taranto is a second degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do and is pursuing his black belt in jujitsu. Drain is a black belt in Tang Soo Do. This event is free and open to the public. All are invited to attend. EPOCH is located at 190 Mansfield Ave. For more information call 508-285-3355.

4. Support Groups at Sturdy Memorial Hospital
Sturdy Memorial Hospital will offer a free New Moms Group for women with babies between the ages of 2 weeks and 12 months. Participants have the opportunity to talk about their growing babies, discuss concerns and expectations, learn different tips from other mothers in the group, and more. This is an on-going program in which interested participants can join the group at anytime. The group meets every Wednesday from 10 to 11:30 a.m. in the Clinical Education Center located near the main lobby of the Hospital. For more information or to register, call 508-236-7151. From 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., a Partners and Caregivers of Patients with Cancer Support Group will be held in Conference Room A. This group is free and open to the public. For more information, call 508-236-7010.

5. United Regional Chamber of Commerce After Hours
The United Regional Chamber of Commerce will have Business After Hours 5 to 7 p.m. at Bristol County Savings Bank,130 Pleasant St., Attleboro. The cost for the business networking event is $5 for members or $10 for non-members. Register by calling the Chamber at 508-222-0801, 508-528-2800 or 508-695-6011.
