5 Things Oct. 6: Oktoberfest, Ink Cartridge Recycling and More

1. Ink cartridge recycling
Bring your old ink cartridges to Norton Public Library to have them recycled. Drop them off at the front desk of the library or in the box provided in the library foyer. Proceeds from the used ink cartridges will be used for library supplies.

2. Attleboro Farmer’s Market
Stop by the Attleboro Farmer’s Market 8 a.m. to noon on N. Main St., Attleboro in the Corporal George Doucette Memorial parking area. This week’s food drive will benefit Murray Food Pantry. John Robertson, Jr., Chef/General Manager and Kitchen Manager Vincent McPherson of  Trinity Bar & Restaurant will give a cooking demonstration using seasonal produce. They will be serving pumpkin soup, grilled vegetable ratatouille and chicken and broccoli un-alfredo.Other vendors will be on site as well. 3. Shopping Night vendors wanted
The Attleboro-Taunton Mothers of Twins Club is hosting a shopping night on Monday, Oct. 15, 6 to 9 p.m. at Jimmy’s Pub, 141 N. Main St., Mansfield. Vendors are being sought. The Attleboro-Taunton Mothers of Twins Club is a non-profit group offering support and education to area mothers of twins and multiples. The club is a member of the National and State Associations. They meet the second Monday of each month at EPOCH Senior Healthcare of Norton, 184 Mansfield Ave., Norton at 7 p.m.

4. International Oktoberfest
Raise a stein to acknowledge a special anniversary while celebrating German culture, food and history at the 20th annual International Oktoberfest, on tap Columbus Day Weekend, Saturday, Oct. 6 and Sunday, Oct. 7 noon to 8 p.m. at the Newport Yachting Center. The event will feature brews, brats and two stages of live Bavarian entertainment. Tickets for Saturday are $25 at the gate. Admission is $20 Sunday. A Weekender Pass is also available featuring entry on both days for $40. Children under the age of 12 are free as long as they are accompanied by an adult.  For the ultimate Oktoberfest fan, an exclusive package called a “Prost! 5. High near 77, low around 45
There is a 20 percent chance of showers after 1 p.m. Patchy fog is expected before 10 a.m. Otherwise, it will be mostly sunny, with a high near 77. Light south wind will become southwest 8 to 13 mph in the morning. Winds could gust as high as 25 mph. Tonight there is a 40 percent chance of showers, mainly before 1 a.m. It will be mostly cloudy, with a low around 45. Northwest wind will be 5 to 7 mph. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
