1. Call Emergency Operations Center for non-emergencies
The Norton Communications center seeing an increase in call volume due to the storm. Rain and wind are affecting the area. Residents are urged to stay off the road. The Emergency Operations Center at Norton Police Department will be open for non-emergency calls. This number can be used for calls regarding power outages, trees and limbs down, etc. The number is 508-285-3326. Residents can also report power outages to National Grid at 800-322-3223.
2. Insurance claim tips
With the full force of Hurricane Sandy expected to hit the Bay State this afternoon, many Massachusetts residents may soon be grappling with power outages and property damage as a result of the storm. Plymouth Rock Assurance has some helpful tips to keep in mind during and immediately following the storm to ease the stress of insurance claims:
· Don’t wait—regardless of the extent of damage, contacting an adjuster as soon as possible is the best way to ensure that your claim is processed in a timely manner
· Take steps to prevent further damage—put tarps over holes, board up windows to homes and automobiles and remove standing water
· Keep records—make a list of personal items that have been damaged and store receipts from any necessary clean-up work
3. Power outage information

4. Beware of downed live wires
Norton Fire and Rescue Department urges residents to remember to consider all downed wires to be live, keep away and report them to National Grid at 1-800-465-1212.
5. High near 67, low around 52
Today there is a 90 percent chance of showers with a high near 67. South wind will be 15 to 18 mph, with gusts as high as 33 mph. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible. Tonight there is a 70 percent chance of showers and patchy fog after 9 p.m. Otherwise, it will be cloudy, with a low around 52. East wind will be 9 to 11 mph. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.
