5 Things Oct. 29: Storm Supplies, Duct Tape Crafts and More

1. Get your storm supplies!
In response to Hurricane Sandy’s possible arrival, Aubuchon Hardware store in Norton announced that they received a truck of 72 generators and multiples of batteries, gas cans, flash lights, etc. Store hours are Monday through Saturday 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

2. Duct tape and mummies
At 3:30 p.m., Norton Public Library will host Jr. Friends and Teens Duct Tape Crafts. There is nothing you can't make with duct tape! Pick up a flyer at the library front desk for more information or to sign up for the Library's Jr. Friends (grades 5 - 9) or Teen Friends (grades 9 - 12). If you have a favorite roll of duct tape you'd like to use, bring it along. Then at 5:30 p.m. is the Parent/Child Book Club. This month’s book is “Mummies in the Morning,” by Mary Pope Osborne. This program is for kids around grades 2-4 and their parents.

3. Coat drive
KinderCare Mansfield, 515 West St., Mansfield, is hosting a coat drive to help local families during the winter months. Infant to adult size coats, clothing (hats, mittens, sweaters, boots, etc.) that are gently used or new will be collected from now until Nov. 2. Sue's Cleaners of Mansfield has offered to clean any coats that are donated.  The donated clothes and coats will be passed on to the Mansfield "Clothes-To-Go".  Those that are in need of clothing can stop by there during pick-up hours on Saturday's at the Clothing Pantry (9 N. Main St., Mansfield).

4. Free physician referral service
For people who are new to the area or need a new physician, Sturdy Memorial Hospital offers a free physician referral service. Over 150 physicians, including OB/GYNs, internists and family practitioners, are on the active staff at Sturdy Memorial Hospital. In addition, there are also many specialists affiliated with the Hospital. By calling 508/236-8500, a representative can assist you in finding an appropriate physician for your needs, keeping in mind your insurance specifications. You may also request a list of Hospital affiliated physicians accepting patients.

5. High near 62, low around 56
