5 Things Jan. 24: Five Wishes, Tot Time and More

1. Five Wishes informational session
Five Wishes is a popular living will written in everyday language and helps start and structure conversations about care in times of serious illness. Join EPOCH Assisted Living of Norton for an informative presentation about Five Wishes 1:30 p.m. Linda Cook, community educator at Affinity Hospice, and Karen Custodio, a registered nurse and wellness director at EPOCH, will lead this presentation and answer questions you may have. Refreshments will be served at this free event. Reservations are requested. To R.S.V.P. call 508-285-3355.

2. Tot time
Tot Time will be held 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. in the community room of Norton Public Library for ages 9 months to 3 years old. Celebrate winter with songs, stories and dances with Ms. Marsha Wright from CFCE. Participants can also make collages and a lace a mitten to put story telling cards.

3. Chronic disease self-management program
Morton Hospital and Bristol Elder Services, Inc. will be offering a six-week chronic disease self-management program. My Life My Health - Living with Chronic Disease will be presented for adults of all ages who have or who live with someone who has one or more chronic conditions. It is designed to help people with chronic conditions such as diabetes, arthritis and hypertension learn how to manage and improve their health. The program focuses on pain management, nutrition, exercise, medication use and communicating with doctors. Classes will begin today and run through Thursday, Feb. 28 2 to 4:30 p.m. in the Morton Hospital Cafeteria Annex. The cost for this program is $25, which includes a book and a CD. 4. Sleep apnea informational session and C.P.A.P. Fair
Sturdy Memorial Hospital will hold a Sleep Apnea Informational Session and C.P.A.P. Fair in the hospital auditorium 7 to 9 p.m. The fair will feature the latest technology and equipment available to treat sleep apnea. The evening’s topic is “What Is Sleep Apnea and How Is It Treated?”  Additionally, attendees will learn how to care for their equipment.  Sturdy Memorial clinicians will also be on hand to provide information and address questions and concerns. 5. High near 20, low around 6
