5 Things Feb. 20: Artful Expressions, Black Doll Museum Happenings and More

1. Sock Hop Storytime and Artful Expressions
Sock Hop Storytime will be held 10:30 a.m. in the community room of Norton Public Library. Donations of socks will be accepted. No registration is required. At 1 p.m. an Artful Expressions program will be held in the community room. This event is for all ages, but registration is required. Get creative with a different art medium each month.

2. Welcome Wednesdays at New Testament
New Testament hosts tours every Wednesday from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Meet some of the staff and learn about what goes on within the school. For reservations call 508-285-9771. For more information visit www.newtestamentschool.org.

3. Day at the National Black Doll Museum
The National Black Doll Museum, 288 N. Main St., Mansfield, will hold various activities. An African wrap doll workshop will take place 10 a.m. to noon. Cost is $10 per person or $12 with a tour of the museum. Sewing machine workshop will be noon to 2 p.m. A movie showing part I of “Roots” will be 2 to 4 p.m. A DigiQuilt workshop will also take place for $12. There will also be music and a movie screening of “Why I Have Black Dolls” for $5. Refreshments will be served. For more information call 774-284-4729.

4. National Grid warns customers of scam
National Grid is warning its customers of a new, nationwide utility bill scam. In
the past several days National Grid electric customers have received telephone calls from individuals claiming to work for National Grid. These scammers demand payment on past due balances for electric accounts and threaten customers that their service will immediately be shut-off for nonpayment.  In some cases the caller also tells the customer that they may have a faulty meter that is dangerous and in need of replacing for a substantial fee. Callers are being directed to make an immediate, over-the-phone payment in order to keep their power on. National Grid never seeks payment of any type over the telephone and urges customers who have received these calls to call the Customer Contact Center immediately at 1-800-322-3223.  

5. High near 36, low around 20
Today there will be increasing clouds, with a high near 36. West wind will be 9 to 15 mph. Tonight will be partly cloudy, with a low around 20. West wind will be 8 to 11 mph, with gusts as high as 26 mph.
