5 Things Feb. 1: Property Taxes, Serenading Seniors and More

1. Property taxes due
Fiscal year 2013 third quarter real estate and personal property tax bills are due today. To pay online click here.

2. Serenading Seniors
The Serenading Seniors will perform at EPOCH Assisted Living of Norton at 10:30 a.m. The Serenading Seniors is choir from the Foxboro Senior Center established in 1998, led by retired music educator Jeanne Bonneau. This performance is free and open to the public. For more information or to R.S.V.P. call 508-285-3355.

3. Heart Health Fair
Sturdy Memorial will hold its annual Heart Health Fair 7 to 10:30 a.m. in conference rooms A, B C, E and F at the Hospital. The fair will feature health screenings, general health information, exercise information, samples of heart healthy food and more. Blood pressure measurements, risk factor assessments, stroke screenings, arterial disease foot screenings (no nylon hosiery or tights), and glucose and cholesterol testing will be offered free of charge. Cholesterol tests require a 12-hour fast. Test results will be mailed. Hospital staff nurses and laboratory technicians will administer the screenings. The Fair is being held in conjunction with National Wear Red Day. Pins and refreshments will be available. Pre-registration is required for glucose and cholesterol testing.  To make an appointment call 508-236-8555. Free curbside valet service is available at the Emergency Care Center (ECC) entrance 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

4. Nomination papers available
Nomination papers for the next annual Town Election will be available at the Town Clerk’s office through Friday, March 8 at 5 p.m. Residents are encouraged to get involved in local government and may stop by, call or email the Town Clerk to learn more about the process. Potential candidates should review the terms due to expire, election calendar and running for office documents found at http://www.nortonma.org/Pages/NortonMA_Clerk/election2.

5. High near 36, low around 14
Today will be mostly sunny, with a high near 36. West wind will be 13 to 16 mph. Tonight will be partly cloudy, with a low around 14. West wind will be 9 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 26 mph.
