"What a Defensive Night for Norton Nationals"

The 14 – 15yo National All Star Baseball team moved a little closer to play-offs by defeating Norfolk at home Thursday night by a score of 8-7 in a very well played contest from both teams. Matt Bingel went 7 full innings holding the  Plainville offense at bay to notch his 3rd win of the season.  The offensive attack by Norton was led by Noah White and Jayson Poirier, both going 2 for 3 and accounting for 5 of the 8 RBI registered by the Norton team. John Duranko put on a defensive display of his own by recording all three outs in the 5th inning which included a spectacular jumping line drive catch for the 1st out.  For Norfolk notables, #63 Lombardo, stroked a bases loaded Home Run over the left field fence in the 2nd inning of the game. The Norton team improved its record to  11 – 2 and will host Mansfield Thursday evening July 25 ,2013 at the Norton Middle School. The two teams faced each other early in the season with Norton losing to the Mansfield Green 1 - 0 with the contest needing 10 innings to decide. Norton will then travel to Bridgewater on Friday evening to close out their regular season.
