Neponset Valley Walk to End Alzheimer's in NEW LOCATION at Patriot Place on September 28th!

Young Norton Man Loses Battle with Alzheimer's - Family Walks to Find Cure
Dustin Steenbruggen was an amazing person. He had a incredible sense of humor. You knew when he was around there was going to be laughter. Dustin was creative, artistic and and loved life. But in 2003, his world began to fall apart. His marriage ended, he lost his job and he was forced to move back home to Norton from California. His mother new he was forgetful, he had always been, but now he was losing his short term memory and making poor life choices. But Dustin was in his early 30s - too early to worry about something like Alzheimer's according to most doctors. But his mother, Rhonda, had a gut instinct that something was very wrong.   And sadly, she was right. By 2008 things had gotten even worse and his family brought him to be evaluated by many different professionals and received a variety of different diagnoses. In 2010, they finally receive the answer that Rhonda already knew in her heart - Younger Onset Alzheimer's disease.

Hard to believe but Rhonda had to watch both her son and her mother, who is currently living with Alzheimer's, slowly deteriorate. Dustin passed away in January of 2012. He was only 39 years old. The family donated his brain to research, hoping it will help scientists uncover a cure.

Now Team Dustin, which Dustin was a part of until last year, will walk once again. For Rhonda's mother and for the memory of her son, Dustin. The Walk to End Alzheimer's will take place on Saturday, September 28th at it's NEW LOCATION at Patriot Place in Foxborough.  Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. at the NRG Plaza outside The Hall at Patriot Place. The formal program will begin at 9:30 a.m.  The walk officially kicks off at 10 a.m.   For more info, to register or donate, visit www.alzwalkMANH.org
