Looking Forward to September

September reminds me to be.. Thankful.

I have been spending most of this month thus far preparing for September. I know, summer is not yet over and I am already talking about September.

My apologies.. However --

I cannot help it. I love September. It is one of my most favorite months (besides my birthday month!)  and the Fall is one of my most favorite Seasons. Don’t get me wrong.. I do miss the ease that summer brings in regards to scheduling and appointments. I love how summertime permits me to have my babies close to home and under one roof…We find great peace here at the Holloway house on an easy going non-scheduled poolside day…

But ahh.. September..

Most parents are fond of this “end of summer” month because their kiddos are finally back to school and on to a regular schedule (and maybe out of their hair?). Not me,  I actually dread that part of September – at least for now! But, what I do like about September is the crispness in the air that requires me to wear my favorite jeans and a sweater. I like the excitement of new beginnings and opportunities that the month of September brings. September, to me, is my “New Years”.

September reminds me to be – Thankful. I am thankful that my kiddos are growing up in a town like Norton. A town, whose schools have been so good to my kiddos that they look forward to going back again. A town that celebrates it origin and reaches out to it’s community – and in doing so has given my family some cherished family memories.

September reminds us to find the “hope” in the usual and every day things that seem so monotonous by June.. September gently draws us back out into our communities, our churches, our local town activities and sports events. It is kind to us, knowing sometimes we are reluctant to leave the lazy hazy days of summer behind..

September brings apple picking and colored leaves. September encourages nights filled with cool temperatures that are perfect for sleeping comfortably with warmer blankets covering the beds. And, once the air conditioners are off and the windows are open, the peepers lullabies can be heard once again.

Yep, my apologies to you summer beach bumb friends….

But, I for one (and probably the only one) am looking forward to September….
