Norton Soccer - A Perfect 10
Senior captain Wayne Belcher hit the net twice as the unbeaten Norton High boys' soccer team secured an MIAA Tournament berth with a 3-0 victory over Medfield Friday at Adams Field in a Tri-Valley League match.
In notching their second shutout of the week, Norton improved to 8-0-2 overall on the season and sought a bit of revenge for a 0-0 tie with the Warriors earlier in the season.
"We moved the ball well, we created plenty of chances," said Norton coach Eric Greene, whose Lancers generated 18 shots and nine corner kicks in the match. Meanwhile, at the other end of the field, Joe Maia had to post seven saves for his second "clean sheet" of the week, making a terrific diving save in the 72nd minute to preserve the shutout.
Belcher scored the match-winner for Norton in the 30th minute off of a corner kick and then scored his second goal of the match in the 63rd minute on a pass from Jonathan Lach and then beating a Medfield defender.

Kevin O'Leary gave the Lancers a two-goal advantage early in the second half, in the 46th minute, finishing off a nice cross from Elliott Ariola with a header.
The Lancers return to action Monday night at 6:30 at Dover-Sherborn.
