Avoiding Identity Theft

Join us Monday, November 18 at 11:00 AM for an Avoiding Identity Theft seminar. The Boston Better Business Bureau's Amy Schram will discuss the dangers of identity theft and how consumers can protect themselves.

Identity theft is a growing crime in our society. According to the Javelin Research firm, in 2012 12.6 million people were victims of identity theft--up 32% from the previous year as reported by the Federal Trade Commission. Javelin also reports a loss of $21 billion and that it took consumers up to 37 hours to fix the problem.

Schram will discuss the growing problem of identity theft, common ways that thieves access consumer data, and what people can do to protect themselves from this type of fraud.
