FLEA MARKET at the Norton Historical Society on May 4th

McCarty Theater, Coyle & Cassidy High School, 2 Hamilton St., Taunton

Dreams is the title of the Taunton Civic Chorus Spring concert. The&nbsp;concert will feature the music of Fleetwood Mac, the Mamas &amp; Papas, ABBA, as well as music from Les Miserables and&nbsp;The Greatest Showman, plus the premier of Music Director Chris Hoskins' arrangement of “Mister Sandman.”&nbsp;
As it enters its 65th year, TCC is the area’s longest running choral group and has been an important part of the cultural life of Taunton since 1959.
This season, the concert will be held at the McCarty Theater at the former Coyle &amp; Cassidy High School. Ample parking is available.

Spring Book Sale to support the Friends of the Library

Norton Public Library is&nbsp;hosting a workshop called Carving Out Your Story, a 90-minute Oral History Workshop. It is a fun and friendly workshop to help you uncover interesting stories from your life. Award-winning facilitators/storytellers, Karen Chace and Andrea Lovett will guide you through the process of finding those story jewels that deserve to be remembered. Program is free but registration is required. Go to our events calendar to register. 
This program is supported in part by a grant from the Norton Local Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency.

Carving Out Your Story: An Oral History Workshop

Frederick Law Olmsted, journalist, abolitionist, explorer, did not seriously turn to landscape architecture, the career that would make him immortal, until he was 44. Olmsted’s large public parks like New York’s Central Park, and the Capitol Grounds in Washington still inspire visitors today, but there are many small public parks and private estates designed by Olmsted that suffer from neglect. This slide show by local historian Ed Hands will present a brief biography of Olmsted and then take a detailed look at the design and current state of three Olmsted landscapes in nearby Easton: The Rockery, Oakes Ames Memorial Hall, and Sheep Pasture.
Ed Hands was born in Braintree and moved to Easton when he was 12. He graduated from OA in 1966, went to Bridgewater State, and got his Masters in Latin American History at UMASS Amherst. He taught at Randolph High School from 1973 until 1994, did five years at Holbrook High before becoming the Social Studies Department Head at OA. While doing this, he became a member of the Easton Historical Society and the Easton Historical Commission. He is currently working on a project on the Underground Railroad for Raising Multicultural Kids.

Join us for a fun and engaging painting class with artist Sandy Churchill! Painters of all levels are welcome to create a spring-themed painting (photo coming soon). All materials will be provided. Spring is in the air, and that means it's time for some serious spring cleaning! Instead of tossing out the old, let's breathe new life into it at our upcoming recycling event! Join us for a day of decluttering, community, and environmental action. We're accepting a wide range of electronics, including TVs, computers, and more. Help reduce e-waste and learn about sustainable practices. 
St Mary's Church is hosting an Electronics Recycling Event from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday June 8. The collection event will be held in the church parking lot at 1 Power&nbsp;Street.
All electronics, appliances, items with a plug and/or batteries, as well as bicycles in any condition will be accepted and recycled for a small cost as follows:

When you arrive, please follow the cones and directions from the workers. Bring your vehicle as close to the truck or dumpster as possible. Feel free to remain in your vehicle, our workers will unload your items for you. 
Residents from all towns and communities are welcome to recycle. The event will be rain or shine. Computer hard drives will be destroyed during the recycling process, but can be removed on-site at the event for an additional charge. Cash payment is preferred, but checks will be an acceptable form of payments over $30.
