Absentee ballots for the State and Presidential Election on Tuesday, Nov. 6 are available at the town clerk’s office at Town Hall.  Absentee Ballots are available for registered voters who will be unable to vote at the polls on Election Day due to absence from the town during normal polling hours, physical disability preventing them from going to the polling place or religious belief. Norton voted in line with the rest of Massachusetts during the congressional primary Thursday, Sept. 6, casting their ballots for Democrat Joseph Kennedy III and Republican Sean Bielat.According to the unofficial results supplied by Town Clerk Danielle Sicard, Kennedy walked away with 455 votes against fellow democrats Rachel Brown who earned 41 and Herb Robinson who garnered 10. Polls for the State Primary Election open 7 a.m. today at Norton High School for all precincts and close at 8 p.m. Town Clerk Danielle Sicard expects about 12 percent of voters to cast their ballot today. This is about how many showed up for the Presidential Primary in March 2012 and the State Primary in September 2010. “My best guess is that we will be somewhere in that ballpark,” Sicard said.  The highest number of voters for a Primary was in 2006 when 17 percent turned out. “As always, we encourage people to be actively involved in the election process,” Sicard said.Voters will submit …

With 1,266 voters at the polls Tuesday, Norton residents voted against questions 2 and 3 in the charter changes and voted in incumbents. There were 745 votes to keep the Town Clerk position elected, while 724 voters also wanted to keep the Water and Sewer Commission positions elected. Question 1, which asked voters to approve grammatical errors, prohibit a town officer or official from simultaneously holding the office of Selectmen or Planning Board and a few other items, passed with 780 votes.
