Sean and I visited Coggeshall Farm Museum this past weekend and fell in love with the location for the reception. The problem is, everything would be outside and a lot of extra planning comes with this.
Now we have to price tents, generators, caterers, etc. to see if it will actually cut costs or create more expensive ones.
All that being said, we see great potential in this gorgeous location. I envision mason jar lanterns on the stone wall, paper lanterns and white Christmas lights adorning the tent and everyone playing lawn games and having fun. And the woman who runs the farm plays Led Zeppelin on the harp. What more could you ask for?

Hi Kelly, I am a Norton resident- I read your posts all the time! I actually work for B.C. Tent & Awning in Avon, MA. To be honest with you, you are not necessarily going to cut costs too much with an outdoor wedding, however there is a huge advantage to having one. You can customize EVERYTHING. You are not going to be stuck in a function hall with some ugly colored walls or lighting fixtures- instead you have a tent that becomes your open canvas. I am more than happy to put a free quote together for you if you would like. Please e-mail me VBedsole@bctent.com and let me know the details. I will need to know your date, how many people you plan on having, and what items you would like underneath the tent (dance floor, buffet, dj or band, etc.) Hopefully I can help you guys out and create a beautiful wedding scene for you! Thanks for always keeping me up to date with the news!! -Valerie

Thank you Valerie. I've been doing some research and price quoting and you are right...the price might come out about event if we are diligent, but could easily cost more.

My wife and I got married at Independence Harbor in Assonet. They offer the best of both worlds, an outdoor gazebo with waterfront views and an indoor/reception area that can be tailored for the weather. The day turned out to be colder than expected, so we had the ceremony outside then had the reception inside. The cost was also significantly cheaper than most of the more traditional places that we looked at.

Independence Harbor is beautiful! I have shot there several times (wedding photographer). Francis Farms in Rehoboth is great for a nice, rustic clam boil reception. In New England, if you can, outdoor weddings are the way to go!

Thanks for commenting Mark and Jesserie. Unfortunately my fiance's cousin is getting married at Independence Harbor and good friends of ours are getting married at Francis Farm. With all the weddings going on around the same time, we are trying not to "copy" anyone, if you understand what I mean. But hopefully all will go well with Coggeshall Farm Museum. It's a beautiful and unique location. I just need to do a little more pricing with tents, generators, restroom trailers and caterers and see if it's feasible.
