When Mom Doesn’t Feel Good

Let the kids run the show…and write your article.

I wasn’t feeling good after supper (made supper for everyone else but me) and laid down on the couch to rest. My son thought it was hilarious waking me up as I dozed off.

I knew I had my deadline to write my Patch article, which was the last thing I felt like doing. So, I said to my nine year old son, “why don’t you write my article for me this week instead of waking me up?” Immediately dollar signs came into his eyes, and he said “will I get paid for this?”  I said I would give him a cut, and immediately he began to haggle. “Whoa, hold on a minute, it needs to be 350 words, so get writing” I told him.

Two minutes later, he wakes me again to count how many words he has written. This goes on for three or four more times until he gets to 200 words. Finally I smartened up and went to bed at 7:30 p.m., and let my husband put the kids to bed.  I didn’t wake up until 6:30 a.m. this morning. I’m still not 100 percent, but sleep is the best medicine.  So, without further ado, here is Jimmy’s story about Alice, our cat:

The Cat Can’t Take It

Alice our cat can’t take being around the kids. She is always wanting to go outside when the kids come walking in the room that she is in, and they start fighting and make all sorts of weird noises. Then when we vacuum the room, she always is hiding behind the couch or is under the bed in our room. Plus she only goes out for like, 5 minutes. So she always is going in, out, in, out, in, out. So she always comes in and SSCCRREECCHH!!! And ZOW! Up the stairs she goes. Then she tries to get my fish, Bubbles, while she is up there. She also acts as if she owns the house. I will give you an example: she was sitting on  a couch and I sat next to her. Then she tried to scratch me. Another thing she does is that she goes and lays down wherever she likes. So she always gets yelled at. Plus when she is out of food, she will try to eat, well, like anything from Polly Pocket clothes to cardboard stuff. So she gets yelled at about that stuff too. So she goes crazy for food she needs.

That was 204 words, guess I’ve got to pay up now.  Thanks Jimmy!

Love,

Mom
