State Police to Hold Sobriety Checkpoint in Bristol County This Weekend

Checkpoint will be Saturday and Sunday.

The Massachusetts State Police will operate a Sobriety Checkpoint this upcoming weekend in Bristol County.

"The purpose is to further educate the motoring public and strengthen the public’s awareness to the need of detecting and removing those motorists who operate under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs from our roadways," said Massachusetts State Police Colonel and superintendent Timothy P. Alben said in a press release. "It will be operated during varied hours, the selection of vehicles will not be arbitrary, safety will be assured, and any inconveniences to motorists will be minimized with advance notice to reduce fear and anxiety."

The checkpoint will be located on an unspecified motorway within Bristol County, which includes Norton, between Saturday, March 23 into Sunday, March 24.

The Sobriety Checkpoint is funded in part through a grand by the Highway Safety Division of the Massachusetts Executive Office of Public Safety and Security.
