Patch Passport: A Little Bit of Paradise at Audage Oasis

The Thursday Patch Passport shows you a Little Bit of Paradise. This is a local place where you can feel like you are a million miles away from the daily stress of life, without having to go far from home. Come along and relax...

Audage Oasis, located at 389 Old Colony Road, Norton is your local hot spot for relaxation.

Founded in 1983 by Kate Savage, Audage Oasis has a Massachusetts License for Massage Therapy.

“Our aim at Audage is transformation,” said Savage on her website. “Our busy lives often leave us feeling less than fine, many days. Our muscles, bones and our spirits cry out for attention. Relaxation is the first step to healing.”

Both eastern and western methods bodywork are offered. A wide range of massage and therapies are available, such as healing stone, shiatsu, reflexology, reiki, yoga, meditation, spa therapy, prenatal massages and many others. Not sure what these services are? Here is a brief explanation of each below:

Healing Stone: The application of heated stones in combination with skillful massage techniques can help the body in detoxification, lymphatic circulation, normalizing the nervous and endocrine systems.

Shiatsu: An Eastern massage technique meaning "finger pressure" involves the gentle stimulation of the "chi" or energy pathways called meridians. Helps muscles, joints and organs. This is a great stress reliever.

Reflexology: An ancient Chinese technique using the pressure points on the feet to help clear blocked energy in our reflexes and open a path to reduced stress and healing.

Reiki: A Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by "laying on hands" and is based on the idea that an unseen "life force energy" flows through us and is what causes us to be alive.

Yoga: The class will weave a path to peaceful living throughout yoga postures, breath work, relaxation and meditation techniques to cope with life's stress

Meditation: Learn simple effective ways to reduce stress, relax your body and mind, as well as relieve tension.

Spa Therapy: Non-medical procedure to help the health of the body.

Swedish: The most commonly known massage. Relaxation of the body by rubbing the muscles with long gliding strokes in the direction of blood returning to the heart.

Acupressure: An ancient healing art using fingers to gradually press key healing points, which stimulate the body's natural self-curative abilities.

Aromatherapy: The practice of using natural oils from flowers, bark, leaves, roots or other parts of a plant to enhance psychological and physical well-being.

Chinese Massage: A traditional Oriental touch therapy using soft tissue manipulation and acupressure.

Deep Tissue Massage: A type of massage therapy that focuses on realigning deeper layers of muscles and connective tissue using slower movements and deeper pressure on areas of tension and pain.

Myofascial Release: A hands-on technique of applying gentle pressure into the Myofascial connective tissue restrictions to eliminate pain and restore motion.

Sports Massage: Helps athletes prepare their bodies for optimal performance, recovery after a game or function well during training.

Thai Massage: Using slow gentle rocking movements, the therapist applies compressions to harmonize vital life energies often described as yoga massage.

Audage specializes in hands-on techniques to soothe the body. Many therapies deal specifically with the flow "chi," a healthy balance between body, mind and spirit.

“By utilizing a variety of techniques, we gain a better understanding of our own unique pathway to health a vitality,” says the Audage website.

Savage urges people to make an appointment and try it out for yourself.

"Come and relax in an atmosphere that will soothe you.”
