Online Dog Licensing and Payments Available
Licenses are due to expire Dec. 31.
Current 2012 dog licenses are due to expire Dec. 31. Dog licensing and payments may be done online at the Town of Norton website.
In order to take advantage of the online licensing and payment option, a current rabies certificate must be on file at the Town Clerk’s Office. For 2013 licenses a rabies certificate must have a 2013 expiration date.
Residents should know that they can license their dog as long as the rabies certificate is current at the time of licensing, you do not need to wait to have a new rabies certificate that covers the rest of the licensing year, although it is expected that you will update the dogs rabies at time of vaccination expiration and that you will provide the town clerks office with a copy.
If the rabies certificate is not on file or expired, residents may fax a copy of their new rabies certificate to 508-285-0297 or e-mail a copy to email@example.com. Allow at least one week for the town clerks office to process the certificate and update the database before trying to utilize the online system.
Online payment options are ACH from checking account, MasterCard and Discover. The bank charges a convenience fee for utilizing a credit card as well as $.25 for ACH payments using a check. There is a $.50 postage fee for each license issued and tags and licenses will be mailed directly to you.
Licenses not renewed by March 1 will be subject to a $5 late fee for the first month and $1 per month for each subsequent month. Licenses not renewed by June 30 will also be subject to a $25 citation issued by the Animal Control Officer.
Residents can access the online payment system at www.nortonma.org. Click Pay Town Bills Online (upper left hand corner of home page), then click Town Clerks Office and dog licensing.
If residents have any questions regarding dog licensing they can contact the Town Clerks Office at 508-285-0230. Residents can stop by the Town Clerks Office during business hours Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Thursdays 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. or complete the dog licensing form on the back of their annual census (in mail boxes the first week in January) to process the 2013 license.
