Obituary: Steve Dalo

Steve Dalo, 87, of Franklin, died Sunday, Dec. 2, 2012.

 

Steve Dalo, 87, of Franklin, died Sunday, Dec. 2, 2012 at the Maples Rehabilitation and Nursing Center surrounded by his family following an illness.

He was the husband of Marie L. (Mucciarone) Dalo for 63 years.

Born in Medfield, Oct. 10, 1925 a son of the late Vincenzo and Rosa (Falzano) DAlo, he was a resident of Franklin since 1941. He was raised and educated in Medfield.

He was a retired shipping clerk for Ciba-Corning in East Walpole and also worked as a salesman for CVS.

Steve served his country in the United States Army during WWII; he attained the rank of Corporal and participated in the battle of Rhineland, Ardennes in Central Europe and was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, the European African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon and the World War II Victory Ribbon. He was honorably discharged in April of 1946.

He was the past Commander of the Franklin Post #3402 V.F.W., a member of the Quattro Eroi Lodge #1414 Franklin Sons of Italy, a communicant of St. Marys Church, Franklin, where he was a former usher, the Medfield American Legion, the Franklin Senior Citizens, the Friends of Franklin, and was also a school crossing guard. Steve enjoyed spending time with his family, woodworking, playing the violin, organ and accordion.

In addition to his wife, Steve is survived by his son Stephen P. Dalo and his companion Joyce Peabody of San Diego, Calif.; his daughter Sandra A. Jackson and her husband Stephen of Norton; his brother Arthur Dalo of Mooresville, N.C.; his three grandchildren; and his two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his siblings Olga Zanstuck and Lola Travers.

Funeral with military honors by the Charles F. Oteri & Son Franklin Funeral Home Interment at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.

Due to floral limitations at the cemetery, the family suggests memorial donations in his memory be sent to the Franklin Senior Center 10 Daniel McCahill St. Franklin.
