Obituary: Magella O. Lavenskie
Services for retired nurse's aide at Daggett-Crandall-Newcomb Home to take place Aug. 29 at 10 a.m.
Magella O. (Roy) Lavenskie, 89, of Mansfield, formerly of Uxbridge, passed away in the comfort of her home surrounded by her family Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2012.
She was the wife of Joseph E. Lavenskie, to whom she was wed Dec. 1, 1945.
Born in St. John, Canada Oct. 11, 1922, she was a daughter of the late Albert and Rose Marie (Marin) Roy.
Affectionately known as “Midge”, at an early age, Magella and her family moved to the United States and settled in the Whitinsville section of Northbridge. She was educated in Whitinsville schools.
A retired nurse's aide, Mrs. Lavenskie worked for over 10 years at the Daggett-Crandall - Newcomb Home in Norton prior to retiring. She lived in Mansfield for the past 32 years.
Midge was a former resident of Uxbridge and a longtime communicant of the Good Shepherd Roman Catholic Church in Uxbridge. Her favorite times spent were those with her grandchildren.
She loved collecting Elvis Presley memorabilia and will always be remembered for her cooking skills.
In addition to her husband of over 66 years, she is survived by her daughters Carol M. Murphy of Ashland and Rose M. Stanley and her husband David of N. Attleboro; her siblings, Jean Lortie, Robert, Gerard, Roland, Leonard, Richard and Raymond Roy; her grandchildren Leeanne, Valerie, David and Joseph Stanley, Cindy Gagan and Carol Ann Goodwin; and her 12 great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter. She was predeceased by her daughter Joanne Goodwin; her sister Marie Vincent,
Her funeral mass, to which relatives and friends are invited to attend, will be celebrated Wednesday, Aug. 29, 10 a.m. in the Good Shepherd Roman Catholic Church, 121 Linwood Ave., Uxbridge. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Uxbridge.
Visiting hours have been omitted. Arrangements are under the care and direction of the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main St., Mansfield.
