The deaths in Norton a century ago, between January and April 1911, have been collected from the records returned to the Secretary of State by Jacob A. Leonard the Town Clerk of Norton.

Mary A. Burt, died January 22, 1911, age 55 yrs. 9 mos. 22 dys., due to exposure to cold and mental deterioration.  Mary was born at Norton May 31, 1858, a daughter of Melzer and Martha (Willis) Burt.  She was buried at the Plain Cemetery in Taunton on January 25, 1911.

Oliver James Horten, died on Worcester St., Norton, February 8, 1911, age 74 yrs. 8 mos. 3 dys., due to bronchitis and asthma.  James was a shoemaker.  He was born in Norton, a son of James and Roxanna (Lincoln) Horton.  Oliver was buried at the Common Cemetery in Norton on February 11, 1911.

Charles Benjamin Caswell, died on Taunton Ave., Norton, February 11, 1911, age 57 yrs. 4 mos. 3 dys., due to paralysis of facial nerve.  He was a superintendent.  Charles was born in  Taunton, the son of Benjamin and Lydia (Hodges) Caswell.  Charles was buried at Pine Hill Cemetery in Taunton on February 15, 1911.

Charles G. Clapp, died on Taunton Ave., Norton, February 11, 1911, age 77 yrs. 1 mos. due to mitral heart disease. Charles was a farmer.  He was born at Princeton, Mass. on June 12, 1834, son of Oliver and Fidelia S. (Geer) Clapp.  Charles was a farmer.  He was buried at Centre Cemetery in Norton February 15, 1911.

Annie M. (Sullivan) Fuller the wife of Elbridge Fuller, died on Elm Street, Norton on February 13, 1911, age 63 yrs. 8 mos. 24 dys., due to bronchitis and asthma.  Annie was born at St. Johns, New Brunswick, Canada May 20, 1847, a daughter of Dennis Sullivan.  Annie was buried at Common Cemetery in Norton on February 16, 1911.

Wilfred Albert Bouchard, died on Burrows St., Norton, February 13, 1911, age 3 mos. 24 dys., due to inanition.  Wilfred was born in Burrowsville in Norton October 19, 1910, a son of Adele and Louise (Basil) Bouchard.  Wilfred was buried at the Dodgeville Cemetery in Norton.

Angelina Melinda (Clapp) Alden the widow of William H. Alden, died on Hodges St., Attleboro, February 27, 1911, age 79 yrs. 8 mos. 27 dys., due to nephritis.  Angelina was born in Petersham, Mass., a daughter of George and Melinda (Wood) Clapp.  She was buried at the Common Cemetery in Norton March 2, 1911.

Eunice Makepeace (Tucker) Blandin, died on Union St., Tisbury, Mass., February 27, 1911, due to influenza.  Eunice was born at Chesterfield, N.H. Nov. 11, 1823, a son of Allen B. and Polly (Makepeace) Tucker.  She was buried at the Centre Cemetery in Norton on March 3, 1911.

James Willard Jenkins, died on Main Street, Norton, February 28, 1911, age 51 yrs. 4 mos. due to carcinoma of the prostate glands.  James was a teamster.  He was born at Kelly Corners, New York, a son of Samuel and Elizabeth (Woolheater) Jenkins.  He was buried at Centre Cemetery, Norton on March 2, 1911.

Victor Robitaille, died on Worcester St., Norton March 6, 1911, age 5 dys., due to suffocation, “baby covered over with bed clothes found dead in bed.”  Victor was born in Norton March 6, 1911, a son of Peter and Rosilda (Tousignant) Robitaille.  He was buried at St. Francis Cemetery in Taunton, Mass.

Robert F. McDermott, died at Morton Hospital, Taunton, April 7, 1911, age 1 year 1 mos. 20 dys., due to tuberculosis and meningitis.  Robert was born at Taunton February 19, 1911, son of John J. and Mary (Rooney) McDermott.  He was buried at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Taunton, April 8, 1911.

Ellen (Kenny) Marley the wife of Michael Marley, died at Burrows St., Norton April 8, 1911, age 78 yrs., due to bronchitis.  Ellen was born in Ireland, a daughter of John Kenney.  Ellen was buried at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Taunton, April 10, 1911.

Margaret Galligan of 77 Wales St., Taunton, Mass., killed at Cranes Station, Norton, April 9, 1911 “being struck by engine”, age 43 yrs.  Margaret was born in Ireland, a daughter of Andrew and Katherine (Cronan) Galligan.  She was buried at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Taunton on April 11, 1911.

Mary Brun, died at Norton April 10, 1911, due to exhaustion at birth, age “a few minutes."  Mary was a daughter of Jessia and Britainline (Rodrigues) Brun, natives of Portugal.   Mary was buried in Taunton.

George W. Lewis, died on Main St., Norton, Mass. April 19, 1911, age 59 yrs., due to cystitis and intestinal nephritis.  George was a retired Engineer.  He was born in Boston, Mass. son of Charles and Agnes (Campbell) Lewis.  George was buried at Union Cemetery, South Boston, Mass. April 21, 1911.

Julianna C. (Morse) Dean, died at Taunton State Hospital, April 26, 1911, age 61 yrs., due to lobar pneumonia and melancholia.  She was born in Massachusetts, a daughter of Lemuel C. and Julianna C. (Sanford) Morse.  She was buried at Attleboro, Mass. April 27, 1911.
