Norton Youths Arrested for Drug Trafficking
High school and middle school age youths found using drugs in Norton home.
A drug trafficking incident involving middle school and high school age youths led to three juvenile arrests today.
At 4:15 p.m., Norton Police executed a search warrant at 4 David St., Norton. Norton Police detectives conducted an investigation after receiving information regarding a high level of drug trafficking coming from the residence. Through surveillance, detectives became aware of several high school and middle school age children frequenting the residence and participating in drug activity.
As a result of the search warrant, three male juveniles were placed under arrest and drugs were seized. The seized drugs include marijuana and Clonazepam.
All three juveniles are charged with possession of a Class D substance (marijuana) with intent to distribute. One of the juveniles is additionally charged with possession of a Class B substance (Clonazepam) with intent to distribute. The juveniles will appear in the Attleboro District Court at a later date.
Norton Police were assisted by members of the Northern Bristol County Drug Task Force.

We can all sleep better at night knowing that these crazy kids on pot are going to have a record forever. The Northern Bristol County Drug Task Force commandos ransack another home because kids were doing pot, like they always have. I'm sure many will disagree with me, until it happens to you. And it could, if you have teenagers and you work. How would you like to come home to that? Cops have it way too easy to get a search warrant, listen to cell phones and pull you over for no seat belt. They forget that we pay their salaries with full benefits. Why can't a kid be given a break?

You have literally lost your mind. Maybe you've been aided by the same thing these kids were caught distributing. Shame on you for even thinking that kids should get a break for this - teach them the lesson now while they're young and can change. And "how would I like to come home to this" - I would hate it. But you know what, it could never happen this way to me because at all costs - I know where my kids are and what they are doing. And there's no way drugs would be distributed out of my home because I'm a parent who puts my kids first. Clearly, you aren't.

That's the same thing my neighbor said about her angel that got caught stealing out of peoples mailboxes. Like I said, many will disagree. The cops are charging them, but who knows what they really did? If you believe everything the cops say, you are naive. Sounds like you have no trust in your kids, clearly you don't.

Ahhh - when am I going to learn - you can't fix stupid.
First - my kids are under 10 - so do I have trust with them, as much as they deserve at this age.
Second, I'm a 'eyes wide open' kind of girl. I'm not saying my kids will be angels their entire lives, in fact I highly doubt it. However, distributing drugs out of my house - never going to happen. They may skip a day of school or get caught playing mailbox baseball when they're not home - because yes, they will do things behind my back but not at my house. It's a funny thing about being a good neighbor, we watch out for each other's kids and houses.
Third, you can even ask my 4 year old, the #1 and 2 rules I have for them are always tell the truth and always take responsibility for your actions. If you have kids - have you taught them to be responsible? It sounds like if they got in trouble, you would doubt that did anything wrong because god forbid the police were right.
Forth, yes, I do tend to believe that when people are charged, there's significant and overwhelming evidence against them. Now, I know there's bad cops - just like there's bad teachers, bad politicians, bad everything. But it's my humble opinion that in order to get charges pressed, an indictment and a trial - they pretty much know that this was going on.
And last, your comment "how would you like to come to this" really irritates me. This is about those kids, what they did wrong or didn't do wrong - not about the parents.

Parents have to pay for everything their kids do, this is totally about the parents. You work hard, maybe 2 jobs. You pay mega taxes for services (cops, fire, school). As a taxpayer if my child got in trouble, I would hope for a free pass first time around. All these cops stormed this house for 3 school kids and a little pot. I'm sure the stormtroopers were high fiving after these dangerous mass murderers were locked up. I'm glad you aprove of the police state we have become. You probably think it's great that 30,000 NSA agents are listening to cell phone calls right now and we are paying for it. You, and many others have turned into sheep.

You are 100% right - the kids should get a one time pass. The guardians of these misfits should be held accountable and prosecuted. Those kids weren't just smoking a bone or distributing pixie sticks, it was controlled substances. The lack of supervision provided the platform to use and sell drugs!

It is unfortunate our society continues to with minimum drug jail sentences, we wonder why our courts and jails are so strectched out...especially for pot and who knows if they were actually distributing drugs...police reports can be over exageratted, as a recent friend of mine was arrested and the police report was nothing close to the actual events that took place. Glad to see a task force was sent to get the stoners but when a statie shoots someone it's a quick 15 min investigation all said and done.

If this story was reported or posted correctly you would have been enformd that there were not 3 minorrs arrested at the residence there was only one out of 8 minorrs on the property arrested because thes big drug traffickers had nothing.the other 2 were stopped in a car and arrested for much more than thay could get fr said residence.thay also are not informing you of how these minorrs were treated with guns pointed at them and shoved to the ground some are still traumatized over these actions .so all in all you're tax money went to find out these kids were most certainly not drug traffickers .before you judge you should know all the facts and be sure all is true now these kids are being given a rape thay do not deserve nor the family

Hello Concerned, this information came straight from Norton Police Department, my sole source of information, since the suspects were reportedly minors and as such could not have their names released. If something more happened here and you can put me in contact with the family, I'd be more than happy to speak with them.

Concerned Tax Payer -
I had a hard time understanding what you wrote given the grammatical errors like "thay" instead of "they", "thay could get fr said" and I'm not sure what "rape" occurred. Anyway, I'm judging what Paul wrote and the information stated in the article. Thankfully, I don't have personal knowledge of what happened since I'm not connected to the kids/parents involved. If you're connected to the kids/parents, hopefully you can help them turn this incident into a learning experience.

@Paul:
"As a taxpayer if my child got in trouble, I would hope for a free pass first time around."
What else would you like people to get a free pas for? What if you were the one distributing drugs - should you get a free pass too since you pay taxes? What if they raped someone - free pass again? That argument is so ridiculous I'm bothered that I'm even responding to it. If one of my kids got in trouble - I'd hope that they were treated fairly, had their day in court that our justice system provides and that they could turn their lives around. And, since they are juveniles, their record would be expunged and wouldn't be on their back their entire lives.
And the NSA agents listening to calls - I can guarantee you that I do like it. First, they'll never listen to mine because I lead an ethical and morally responsible life. Second, it's a form of protection for our country that has proven to stop attacks on this country.

Jen- I completely understood what he wrote about so, enough with the snide grammar comments. Secondly, the issue here is how police departments focus their efforts in protecting the public. Honestly, I'd rather them out there catching drunk drivers than forming a task force to go after high school kids who have smoked pot...I doubt that you have ever smoked pot before but there are millions of people who have but besides the point....
and I was saying about the statie shooting that woman was that they threw a ton of resources at some potheads and then when it came to that New Years Eve Shooting....Wasn't that shooting incident not labeled an accident within hours of the shooting? I mean how do you do a complete and thorough invistigation in one night?? Just saying....

Last I checked you aren't the Patch Police so if I want to comment about someone's
horrible grammar, because it proves my point that the person is an idiot - that's my right. The guy used the word "thay" how many times? And rape? And "minorrs". I'm calling a spade a spade.

Here's a couple points for you. One, my dad has terminal cancer. When it was suggested he use marijuana, he didn't go to the local high school or park to get it - he got a prescription from his doctor. Two, I spent a summer in Amsterdam where pot is legal, when I was 19 - make your own assumptions about that trip.

The point on that is this - did they rule out that the state trooper wasn't maliciously gunning for the woman - yes. Did the investigation end in hours - no. Look at the articles written about the shooting to refresh your memory.

Sounds like those against the arrest must not know the issues previously, same group got caught last November for smoking weed at the school dance. In addition if they were watching the house then they clearly knew what was happening. So those people complaining this was a "one off" think again it was clearly a habitual issue with these group of youths and its happening again due to lack of parental support.

For christ sake it was a little pot get the hell over it when you were a kid you never did anything wrong? Thats part of childhood then you grow up. They used unresonable force to aprehend 8 teenagers, 2 of which were females. And only one of them had pot on him. And the other teens were arrested on freeman street in a car not at the home. All in all they didnt even find over an ounce in the home so paul thank you for getting it and to all the others GET YOUR STUFF STRAIGHT

This whole situation involing us "drug distributers" just made the Norton Police Deparment look ignorant. The forced they used on us highschool was was unnecessary, they had guns drawn pointed at our heads and whiped us to the ground. All for a little bit of weed. They treated us like we were murderers. Not to mention they gave a completely wrong story. So, good job NPD you busted a bunch of kids balls for smoking a little bit of pot. Like none of you have smoked pot before. Just goes to show how many people in this world are just ignorant. Good to know our town is safe from us pot smokers.

All I am saying is using tax payer funded task forces to go after kids who smoke weed as compared to maybe going after drunk drivers, pedophiles, domestic abusers those are the crimes we need to be going at...not high school kids

Either way, the kids that were arrested, were in fact breaking the law. And there are consequences for breaking the law. I don't know the details of the actual arrest, as many of us don't. I do think that they were up to no good for quite a while if the police had been keeping an eye on them. And yes, kids will be kids and make mistakes, but if they don't learn from them, the problem escalates into something that can't be changed, permanent, or even life threatning.

Laws were broken. Suffer the consequences. Pretty Simple. Stop pretending to know what happened and look at the facts you are presented with. This is not Monopoly, no free get out of jail cards. It is real life, we all know that, adults and kids, now we deal with it.

I second Jay's comment - and I'd like to keep the druggies away from my family. These kids get a pot smoking habit (and other habits after they try other drugs when they can't get their pot) that they cannot afford to support. Pretty soon they are visiting your home and influencing their young friends, indoctrinating others, stealing your belongings and pilfering from your purse/wallet. These are no longer harmless actions but the beginning of a long and unhappy disruption of your family and of the lives of others they touch. Jen, however, you best continue to keep your eyes and ears open--but there are no guarantees. Even the best of us can't control everything that our kids do or sneak around doing in spite of the efforts and precautions we take. Drugs are now strictly money driven, and those seeking to enrich themselves with drug money don't care how they get it or who they drag into their mess.

Paul sounds like a poor parent who wants to blame his child's shortcomings on everyone else. Kids should be responsible for said actions. If you want to deal drugs (not just pot, but a class B substance), be prepared for the results. Its a shame too many people can't take responsibility for their own actions, kids learn this from the ignorant parents.
Jen, You are right on with your comments.

“He who sacrifices freedom for security deserves neither.” Ben Franklin.
I think “TruthSeeker” has legitimate concerns about citizen's being monitored with no warrant. And sadly, folks cheer the disintegration of our constitution on to be ‘‘safe” thus consenting with the government as it grabs all kinds of frightening powers over its people.
It's naive to think that arrest means guilt. Life is not TV. The DNA ‘‘Freedom Project” shows that many an innocent person has been jailed and even put on death row due to poor investigations or even malice.
Grammatical mistakes are common and to point them out is a desperate argument, especially on a web where people tend to write fast and perhaps too furiously. For example, you can't ‘‘literally” lose your mind unless it falls out of your skull and rolls under the bed where you are unable to find it. We all tend to live in glass houses Jen, whether over confident about our grammar, how our kids will turn out or what will take place in our houses when we are not home.
Finally, the idea that good parenting keeps kids out of trouble and bad parenting makes them bad kids is probably the society's biggest myth and one usually promoted by mothers with very young children. I wish those luck with young kids who think highly of their parenting skills. May poor results never contradict your smug self-satisfaction. Keep in mind though that good fortune is often confused with fine ability.
