Norton to Host Ripken 11-year-old New England Tournament

The best 11-year-old Cal Ripken Baseball teams in New England will be in Norton for a tournament next week.

 

 

 

Norton Youth Baseball will be hosting the 11-year-old Cal Ripken New England Regional Tournament Aug. 3-10 at the Lee Burchill Baseball Complex on 38 Plain St. in Norton.

State champions from each of the New England states, New Hampshire, Maine, Connecticut, Rhode Island and Massachusetts, will compete for the title of champion.

Festivities start on Friday afternoon with opening ceremonies and the Dick's Sporting Goods' Skills Competition. Also, Wally the Green Monster will be stopping by and the Red Sox World Series Trophies will be on hand courtesy of Sports Authority.

Special guest Rod Correia, who resides in Norton and played on the California Angels, will be giving a talk to the players and the crowd at 1:30 p.m. One of Boston’s rising star singers, Oladunni Oladipo, will be performing the National Anthem.

The general schedule of events is as follows:

Friday, Aug. 3-Opening Ceremonies 11 a.m.-6 p.m.

Saturday, Aug. 4-Games 10 a.m.-8 p.m.

Sunday, Aug. 5-Games 10 a.m.-8 p.m.

Monday, Aug. 6-Games 5:30-8 p.m.

Schedule is as follows to start on Saturday:

Eastern Mass. Champion vs Connecticut at 9 a.m,

Maine No. 1  vs Rhode Island at noon.

Western Mass vs Maine No. 2 at 3 p.m.

Host team Norton vs New Hampshire at 6 p.m.
