Men's XC Garners USTFCCCA All-Academic Team Recognition
Lyons among 141 teams recognized for academic excellence.
The Wheaton College men's cross country team has been named to the 2012 U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic Cross Country Team list, it was announced earlier this week.
The Lyons posted a 3.24 cumulative grade point average (GPA) which ranked fourth overall among all New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) teams listed.
Academically, senior Michael Richard (Chicopee, Mass./Holyoke Catholic) earned NEWMAC Academic All-Conference accolades this past fall for the third-straight season to highlight the squad in the classroom. As a team, Wheaton finished seventh overall at the NEWMAC Championships and 29th overall at the NCAA Division III New England Championships.
To qualify as a USTFCCCA All-Academic Cross Country Team, the team must have a cumulative team GPA of 3.00 or better and have compiled a score (finished at least five runners) at their respective NCAA regional championship.
